Supports patients with complex symptoms, due to a terminal illness (malignant or non-malignant in nature), providing symptom management for those with advanced cancer undergoing intensive treatment leading high symptom burden. Dr Mitchell is available to admit patients for symptom control and end of life care, as well as review patients in the outpatient setting. She is able to provide advice to colleagues to assist with managing patients within the clinic setting (either via telehealth or by phone) or within the patient’s home, as required.

Dr Maureen Mitchell is experienced in supporting patients with terminal illnesses, including advanced cancer. She offers inpatient and outpatient care, assisting colleagues in managing patients across various settings. Dr Mitchell completed her medical degree in Western Australia and practiced as a GP leading her to roles in hospice care and community-based services. She prioritises empowering General Practitioners in end-of-life care and has developed programs to enhance their skills. Additionally, she has contributed to specialised clinics for conditions like Motor Neuron Disease and collaborated with renal dialysis units. Dr Mitchell's dedication to compassionate care earned her recognition as a finalist for the "Pride of Australia Medal." Alongside her clinical work, she actively engages in education, focusing on bioethics and medical law. Her diverse experiences and commitment to excellence make her a valuable asset in palliative medicine.
