Nambour Selangor Private Hospital promotes a culture of continuous learning amongst staff. Employees are supported and encouraged to pursue further education through both internal and external education forums.

The Hospital’s education program is closely aligned with its strategic planning. Identified areas of need are strongly supported with education and training for interested staff members.

Nambour Selangor Private Hospital’s Risk Management Unit incorporates education staff who promote opportunities available to staff via government assistance programs, scholarships, external health training providers, tertiary institutions and corporate training opportunities.

The Unit supports staff who acts as educators in specialty areas. Together, they are responsible for ensuring staff competence through the provision of training, learning packages and competencies appropriate to staff education.

Nambour Selangor Private Hospital encourages and supports the placement of undergraduate nursing and diploma of nursing students. As the Hospital accepts mores undergraduate students, it has facilitated a model where a skilled clinical staff member is seconded to a university for 15 weeks to receive training and support.

The clinician will then be responsible for overseeing the students’ learning opportunities and assessment. This role will be supported by our clinical educator and is a significant opportunity to nurture a culture of continuous learning as our staff welcome and support novices in clinical areas.

Over the past three years, 10 middle management staff completed the Certificate 4 in Frontline Management. An additional two administration staff completed a Certificate 4 in Business Development, and several of the Hospital’s catering staff has now achieved a formal qualification in hospitality.

Staff have also been supported to complete training in information technology and the specialties of CSSD, palliative care, diabetes, stoma therapy, wound care and birthing to name a few.
