The 16 bed unit offers large private rooms with ensuites and balconies, a spacious lounge and patient dining area, a well equipped gym looking out onto beautiful bush surroundings together with access to outdoor areas.

Nambour Selangor Private Hospital Chief Executive Officer Shane Mitchell said he was excited about providing this new service to patients of the Sunshine Coast region.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer rehabilitation services to patients of the Sunshine Coast,” he said.

“The development of the rehabilitation unit will supplement the acute medical and surgical services that Nambour Selangor has been renowned for over the past 65 years.”

The rehabilitation unit aims to help each patient optimise his or her health and functional independence.

“Programs will be individually tailored for each patient with our aim being to provide an early return to independent living at the highest possible level of functioning,” Mr Mitchell said.

“Patients will be assessed and cared for by a highly trained and experienced multidisciplinary team including medical, nursing and allied health staff.”

The medical team will be led by rehabilitation specialist Dr Peter Georgius and also includes geriatricians Drs Vanessa Harrington, John Endacott and Tony Tampiyappa.
