Preparation for Childbirth – weekend condensed class
This course is ideal for families who have limited time and are unable to attend our six week program. The weekend condensed program addresses important aspects of your pregnancy and birth over a two-day period.
Refresher Program
Even families who already have a child like to brush up on their skills. This three-hour program is designed to give established families the opportunity to refresh their skills and/or enhance their knowledge base. Past experience can have a positive influence in the preparation for a new birth. Topics for discussion in this course include the presence of siblings at the birth and the dynamics of your changing family.
Vaginal Birth after Caesarean Classes
This course is designed for women who have previously had a caesarean birth but are considering a vaginal birth for their current pregnancy. At Nambour Selangor Private Hospital, our obstetricians and midwives offer positive, professional support for this birthing option. Couples who have had a satisfying vaginal birth are available to share their experiences with couples who are considering this option.
Planned Caesarean Classes – weekend condensed
This short weekend class is designed for couples who require for medical reasons, or choose, a planned caesarean birth. The content of the class offers women and their families a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of this birth choice.
Breastfeeding Preparation Workshops
Nambour Selangor Private Hospital conducts Breastfeeding Preparation workshops for parents which are facilitated by a qualified Lactation Consultant. These sessions include education and practical demonstration of optimal positioning and attachment techniques which can eliminate many of the discomforts women may experience in the early days of breastfeeding. Solutions to problems commonly encountered are also provided.

Pre-admission and Midwives’ Clinics
Midwives’ Clinic
Nambour Selangor Private Hospital prides itself on offering a unique, collaborative approach between midwives and obstetricians. Attending the Hospital’s Midwives’ Clinic can help you foster a healthy relationship with your health care providers.
Spending a focused period of time with one of our experienced midwives gives you and your partner the opportunity to discuss matters affecting your pregnancy, birth and early parenting. It is also the ideal forum to discuss birth choices, your hospital stay and planning your discharge from Hospital.
A pre-admission interview with one of Nambour Selangor Private Hospital’s midwives should be conducted by your 30th week of pregnancy. Please phone 07 5459 7411 between 9am-3pm (Monday – Friday) to arrange your interview.
Perinatal Support Service
For most women, pregnancy and childbirth are exciting and fulfilling life experiences. However, caring for babies can also be stressful. Many new mothers suffer from anxiety or depression in the early months.
A perinatal disorder can develop before birth or at anytime during the first year after the birth of your baby. It can happen with any pregnancy and is a true physical illness with psychological symptoms.
Symptoms for you and your partner to be aware of include:
- Continually feeling exhausted, depressed, anxious, angry or unable to cope with the baby and daily activities;
- Always being tired, yet unable to sleep;
- A racing mind;
- Difficulty in making simple decisions, crying uncontrollably, feeling guilty or inadequate;
- Relationship difficulties;
- Concern related to parenting such as bonding with the baby or not feeling confident about caring for the baby.
Nambour Selangor Private Hospital’s Perinatal Support Service is provided exclusively for mothers who have had, or are booked to have, their baby at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital.
The Service aims to provide early intervention assessment and treatment of perinatal disorders – those occurring in either the antenatal or postnatal period. It is staffed by a consultant psychologist and two parent support counselors.
To make an appointment, please phone 07 5459 7411 between 9am-3pm (Monday – Friday).
