Maternity: Your Stay
Your Stay
During your stay at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital, our team of experienced, skilled midwives will support you in your learning journey as you develop skills in caring for your newborn baby.
The days immediately following the birth of your baby are extremely special. After the birth of your baby, you will be encouraged to keep your baby with you in your room to help promote:
- Enhanced bonding
- Opportunities for learning practical parenting skills
- The establishment of lactation
- Increased confidence
- Decreased risk of cross-infection
The length of time you spend in hospital following the birth of your baby depends on a number of factors, including the type of birth, your post-delivery health and your baby’s health. If you had a vaginal birth, your stay will be between one and four nights. Women who have had a caesarean birth generally stay between two and five nights.
It is important to realise that these are average stays. At Nambour Selangor Private Hospital our care is directed towards ensuring you and your baby are ready to go home with all the support you may require.
During your stay you will enjoy nutritious, tasty meals prepared in our in-house kitchen. A wide choice of meals incorporating fresh ingredients is planned by our specialist dietary staff. Should you have any specific dietary requirements, please inform our nursing staff upon your admission to hospital. Your partner is welcome to join you for meals however a small meal charge applies.
Nambour Selangor Private Hospital is fortunate to have the services of a team of visiting paediatricians – all of whom may be involved in the care of your baby during your stay.
As part of our duty of care, we recommend that every newborn baby be routinely examined by one of our paediatricians at birth. Paediatricians are trained to diagnose conditions such as hip dislocation and cardiac-related problems which are not obvious to the untrained eye.
If you have any questions about the care of your baby or your own health whilst in hospital please ask one of our experienced staff.
